Residents urged to protest against 1080 baiting

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: GYMPIE Regional Council apparently advertised in Thursday's The Gympie Times that they are starting baiting for wild dogs and dingoes.

Pleeeeaaaassseee, if you feel the urge, write or email council, the mayor, the councillors, stating your objections to poisoning animals.

Yes there is a serious problem and many domestic pets and stock have been killed in recent weeks.

Yes the dogs need to be dealt with, but not by poisoning.

It's cruel to the dogs (even if they are feral and mongrels), it's dangerous to wildlife and domestic pets.

Licenced experienced trappers and shooters can be far more humane in killing and disposing of these predators.

Leonora Cox,

Gympie.
