11 make karate grade

ELEVEN members of the Gympie Karate Club passed grading tests last week, to progress to the next belt level.

Held at the club's dojo in Iron St, the two-hour grading put members through balance skills, kata, belt basics, sparing and self-defence.

"They had been waiting a long time for this grading," instructor, sensei Noel Turner said.

"Members showed good dedication and spirit, with all of them passing the challenging grading," sensei Turner added.

The Gympie Karate Club holds training on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with juniors from 5.30-6.30pm, and seniors from 6.30- 7.30pm.

Both juniors and seniors also train on Saturdays, from 8-9.30am.
