Dickfos taking personal victory into Gold XI double header

AS THE Stirling Homes Gympie Gold XI look to win its double header clash this weekend, captain Kaden Dickfos is already celebrating his individual victory after being selected for the Queensland country cricket team.

Dickfos represented South Queensland against North Queensland in Brisbane last weekend and despite his team losing by 157 runs (8/230) he still gained selection.

Although not pleased with his individual performance, Dickfos impressed the right people and will play for the Queensland Country Brahmans in the Australian Country Championships at Mt Gambier in early January.

Dickfos, who has been selected to represent Queensland for the past two years, said after winning the championships last year he hoped the side could achieve the same result.

The championships were far from his mind though as he prepared his team for a tough weekend of cricket with a double-header against two of Gympie's top sides.

Gold is coming off the back of another double points victory this season, defeating Maroochydore Red at home last week, 227-100 runs.

Gympie will face the Caboolture Snakes at Caboolture, who took the one-day premiership from Gympie last season.

Gympie sits comfortably in second position on the Sunshine Coast one-day ladder while unusually, Caboolture is trailing in fourth, as it is working on breaking in new players this season.

Tomorrow will be an even greater challenge for Gold as it is eager to beat the Glasshouse Rangers, at Glasshouse, after they recently pipped Gympie at the post for the T20 cricket premiership - on the last ball.
