Breakfast numbers growing

ORGANISERS of next month's Mayoral Prayer Breakfast say they are expecting an attendance similar to, if not better than last year's popular event.

"There are people who filled out forms at last year's breakfast who have booked and paid for their places," spokeswoman Thea Nissen said.

Tables fill fast so anyone wishing to attend the February 24 event at the pavilion can contact Mrs Nissen on 0419 792 650, email or

Tickets may also be purchased from Schuh & Co, 52 Mary St, Gympie. Tickets are $15 each.

The popular Lachlan Baker will again take the stage with a voice so beautiful that it may make many listeners weep. And he's bringing with him soprano Liza Beamish - another attraction for breakfast-goers.

Guest speaker this year will be Federal Member for Fadden and Shadow Minister for Defence Science, Technology and Personnel Stuart Robert - a former Bundaberg man who served with military intelligence and left the Army with the rank of Captain. Mr Robert also owned an IT company before entering politics.

Gympie State High School students will prepare and serve breakfast, which is being held on February 24, at 6.30am for a 7am start.
