Bridge gets overhaul for Muster

GYMPIE Regional Council workers were toiling hard yesterday strengthening the Amamoor Creek Bridge in time for the Muster.

Cr Larry Friske said work was expected to be finished by the end of the week to allow fully loaded semitrailers access to the Muster site.

The wooden bridge was damaged by floodwater early this year.

Since then council workers had completed minor repairs to the bridge but a load limit of 16 tonne was put on the structure for safety reasons.

Mr Friske said council workers were adding temporary support work to the bridge to enable the bridge to be used by the heavy transport needed to supply the Muster site in the Amamoor Creek State Forest.

"The work will enable us to remove the load limit," Cr Friske said.

"This will make it safe for the Muster."

Another positive for Muster fans is the road to the site, Amamoor Creek Rd, has been graded and in good condition with few potholes. A water truck is wetting down dusty areas to keep dust levels to a minimum.
