Caitlyn shoots to number one
SHOOT out the Lights, the latest single by country sweetheart Caitlyn Shadbolt, has shot to number one on two Australian country charts.
The Gympie singer's second original song hit top spot on the Country Music Channel on Saturday and Kix FM's Australian Top Twenty chart yesterday.
Caitlyn said Shoot Out the Light's success had been mind blowing, especially on CMC which includes international artists like Keith Urban.
The 2014 X Factor top five finalist thanked everyone on her team and the fans for the chart success.
"It's enormous," Caitlyn said.
"Last week there was an American artist at number one and then for me, a little Gympie girl, to take number one is surreal."
Caitlyn is the first Gympie country artist to hit number one on the CMC and she is hoping to stay in top spot for another week.
"It will be tricky to hold it for a week," Caitlyn said.
"It's hard enough to get to number one."
It's been 12 months since Caitlyn's X Factor journey finished and her career keeps heading skyward.
The pocket dynamo has had numerous national television appearances and is gigging every weekend.
"Everything is going really well," Caitlyn said.
"All the hard work is starting to pay off and it's good to see my entire team working together and getting results."
This week Caitlyn will appear at Gold Rush on Saturday night.
"It will be awesome to do a local crowd again," Caitlyn said.
Then Caitlyn will head to Sydney to write more songs for an upcoming album and tour in country New South Wales.
Caitlyn's third single is about to be released shortly after filming the clip at the Muster and she hopes to head overseas next year.
