Cooran singer off to UK after surviving X Factor boot camp
COORAN singer Jimmy Davis continues to impress on The X Factor.
Last night's episode saw the Coast talent secure one of five spots on judge Chris Isaak's Under 25 Boys group.
The 21-year-old had already survived a cull by the judges after the audition round, which saw only half of the singers green-lit at auditions returning to compete in the five-seat challenge.
He then had to compete against 12 singers for one of the five seats in the musical-chairs style round.
"At first I was thinking OK here comes the egos, the princesses, the Madonnas," Davis, who was born in Gympie, told APN.
"I was pleasantly surprised when I got there (to the boot camp round).
"I was just nervous about what the other contestants would be like, if we'd get along."
Davis' orange pants might have made for an eye-catching entrance, but his rendition of Fleetwood Mac's Dreams had the judges and crowd enthralled.
"I hope to show Chris that I'm more than just a screamer," Davis said.
Guy Sebastian said he would eat his hat if Davis didn't find success in the music industry.
This week's upcoming home visits round will see Davis travel to the UK to meet and perform for X Factor creator and boss Simon Cowell.
The boot camp rounds continue tonight on Channel 7 at 7.30pm.
