Coastline BMW wins 2016 BMW Dealer of the Year award
THE Sunshine Coast's Coastline BMW dealership has trumped its metro cousins to be crowned 2016 Australian BMW Dealer of the Year.
The dealership, based at its striking showroom on Nicklin Way in Currimundi, was recognised for its "dedicated staff and high achievements throughout 2016" in being crowned best in the land, ahead of its friendly rivals in all of Australia's major cities and regional areas.
Coastline BMW regularly scoops the brand's Regional Dealer of the Year award, but this is the first time since 2002 it has landed the big one.
Coastline BMW dealer principal Tristan Kurz - no stranger to attention as one of the Coast's most recognisable business figures - said he was honoured to accept the prestigious award.
"The Kurz family and Coastline BMW are very excited to have won the ultimate Australian BMW dealer award," he said.
"Above all, we are extremely proud of all our staff at Coastline BMW. It is our staff who make the difference."
BMW says its Dealer of the Year trophy acknowledges outstanding performance, professionalism and a dedication to benchmark customer service.
Coastline BMW has won the top trophy three times previously - in 1996, 2001 and 2002.
The award was presented to Mr Kurz at the State Library of Victoria by BMW Group Australia chief executive officer Marc Werner.
Sophie Kurz of Coastline BMW said it was a huge achievement for a regional dealer.
"We're still on quite a high, as it's such an achievement for a regional dealer" she added.
Ms Kurz said a combination of BMW's extensive model line-up, improved value and an increase in market demand for premium vehicles had "stimulated BMW market share on the Sunshine Coast like never before".
She added that BMW's "X" range of SUVs were Coastline's best-selling models, which wasn't surprising "given the active lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast loves".
Nationally, 2016 was BMW's best-ever year in terms of new car sales. It sold 28,028 new cars in Australia - an increase of 12% from 2015 - and was second only to Mercedes-Benz in the prestige segment.
So far in 2017, sales are up again by 12%.
