Crack shots target our past
THE sun held out for a great weekend of shooting when Tin Can Bay hosted the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia Queensland Titles on Saturday.
Tin Can Bay branch president Gordon MacRae said 50 competitors took part from as far away as New South Wales, Brisbane and Wondai.
MacRae said about 10 locals took part, the standout performance was Gympie's Thomas Barton who took home a silver trophy in the junior hawk throwing.
"It was a really good weekend," he said.
Senior range and safety officer Ian Ladewig said there were about 23 categories on the day, with 14 titled events.
Most people dressed up to fit the part and camped out over the weekend and there was a prize for old-style camping.
"The whole atmosphere is getting dressed up and shooting black powder," he said.
