Gympie's biggest morning tea just got bigger

ROSA and Ian McLennan are hosting a Biggest Morning Tea on Saturday at the Chatsworth Hall.

The couple, who have been hosting biggest morning teas at their home for five years now, started with just eight guests.

This year, they are catering for 100, selling tickets for an "elegant extravaganza". Tickets are available from Concept 54 Shoes and Bags in Mary St and guests will be treated to morning tea served in china cups and saucers, tasty morning tea treats and background music from singer Alison McLennan accompanied by Sue Allen on keyboard.

"Two girls from St Pat's will be waiting on tables too," said Rosa.

She intends to dress up the hall as an indoor garden, complete with picket fence, wisteria and other knick knacks.

Hubby Ian had to build an extra shed to store all the tea cups and other items. "It's now laden with goodies," laughed Rosa.

The couple are passionate about finding a cure for cancer. Ian has had lung cancer and both his father and grandfather died from the disease. Rosa lost a sister to cancer at the start of the year and there are other family members affected by different cancers too.

"It's something we like to do for the cause," said Rosa.

The official day for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea this year is Thursday, May 28, but can be held any time during May or June.
