Celeb pals share support for Demi Lovato
DEMI Lovato's friends have sent out messages of support and love following her overdose with her ex boyfriend, NCIS star Wilmer Valderrama said to be "utterly devastated".
Ruby Rose, the Jonas brothers and Lady Gaga have all sent messages to the Cool for the Summer singer.
Valerrama, who Lovato dated for six years, was said to be "shocked" by the news.
"He knew she was going through a tough time but he wasn't prepared for this," a source close to the couple told People.
"He saw her through so many ups and downs and was her rock through some of her darkest moments. To see her back in such a sad and vulnerable place is heartbreaking for him."
"He has always cared deeply for her and they truly remained friends after they broke up," the source continued.
"Demi always hoped they would end up back together in the future. He's the love of her life and vice versa."
Lovato, who was hospitalised yesterday after suffering from an overdose, is currently in a stable condition.
Sources told TMZ that heroin was not the drug she overdosed on.
"Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support," Lovato's rep said in a statement to Variety.
"Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."

Lovato has received an outpouring of support on social media.
Lovato's BFF Iggy Azalea revealed in June that she knew about Lovato's relapse.
"I had known about it, as a close friend," the 28-year-old revealed. "So I had really wanted for her to be the one to tell people that.
"And I worried a lot, as her friend, that something was going to leak or somebody would somehow take that and use it negatively against her, or to make her seem like she's got a secret."

"It's not my business to say to my friend, 'You need to fess up' … But as a friend, you worry and you're like, 'Oh, my God, my friend, she has this thing that people can use against her and I really want her to own it.' And she did!'
There has been no public comment so far from former BFF and fellow Disney star Selena Gomez or on again-off again friend Taylor Swift.

Lovato has been open about her battles with substance abuse issues and eating disorders.
In March 2018, the star announced she was celebrating six years of sobriety. However, just four months later, she revealed that she had relapsed in a song called Sober.
Lyrics included: "I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore" and "I promise I'll get help/It wasn't my intention/I'm sorry to myself."
Lovato previously completed a stint in rehab at age 18 for drugs, self-harm and an eating disorder before recovering in 2012.

In 2017 doco Simply Complicated, Lovato spoke about experimenting with cocaine at 17 and that she "loved it" right away.
"My dad was an addict and an alcoholic," Lovato said.
"Guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled him and he chose that over a family."
