Rhino DJ has Caitlyn in a spin

SINGERS usually opt for a few moments of relaxation before performing in front of a crowd of hundreds.

Gympie's Caitlyn Shadbolt, however, chose an entirely different approach ahead of her Saturday performance at Australia Zoo.

The former X Factor contestant met with the zoo's resident 2.2 tonne rhino - DJ.

Caitlyn posed for a photo with the impressive animal after a tentative introduction.

"He was the friendliest animal," Caitlyn said.

"He let me walk right up to him and give him a back scratch."

DJ's size had the singer feeling a little nervous.

"His horn alone was the size of my thigh," Caitlyn said. "I was a bit cautious."

Hundreds were seated in the Australia Zoo Crocoseum as Caitlyn performed a four-song set at 11.30am.

The songs included a few of the singer's original tracks from her self-titled EP and a medley.

"You can never choose," she said. "The medley is great because you combine a few of them together."

Meanwhile, the singer continues to travel with the Unwired Tour with Travis Collins and Mickey Pye.

The tour stops at Gympie's Royal Hotel on Friday, December 11.
