Do Ryobu-Kai kicks butt at titles

MEMBERS of Sensei Noel Turner's Japan Karate- Do Ryobu-Kai Gympie Karate Academy have just returned from a successful tournament.

The Iron St club travelled to Pomona for the first round of Karate tournaments for 2012.

Sensei Turner said the Pomona tournament was run very well with more than 80 competitors battling it out for karate glory.

"The JKR Gympie Karate Academy brought home 28 medals," Turner said.

"For some of the members from Gympie it was their first time at a tournament and they went well.'

He said the club worked very well together.

"Members and parents all helped to organise the competitors," Turner said.

Cooper Blackburn and Val Enstrom were the best performers.

"They topped the trophies both with three each," Turner said.
