Eisteddfod talent on show

THE applause continued at the Gympie and District Eisteddfod at the Civic Centre yesterday.

The day began with nursery rhyme and verse speaking as the event welcomed theatrical talent to the mix.

Yesterday's highlight was the piano and instrumental championships.

Lily Dargusch-Haig and Anna Murley were in the spotlight when they performed a first-place-winning piano duet in the 14 years and under age group.

Lily stepped up to take first place in the piano solo section in the same 13 and 14 years age group and once more for the 14 and 15 years Australian composer section.

Other first-placegetters included pianists Kasey Gibbs, Liam Brauer, Ryan Percival and James Buckland.

Today's eisteddfod fun begins with the choral contest, followed by verse speaking.

Tomorrow evening will have some of Gympie region's best singers on stage.
