Fire suspected arson

TIN Can Bay police are looking for answers in regard to a suspected arson at Cooloola Cove on the weekend.

A person phoned 000 at 2am on Sunday to notify emergency services of a vehicle on fire in Queen Elizabeth Drive.

It was fully alight when police and firefighters attended and the vehicle, a Ford Explorer 2000 model, was gutted by the time the fire was extinguished.

Police contacted the owner of the vehicle who said he had run out of petrol the day before and parked it there overnight, planning to return the next day.

Investigating officer Constable Keith Morris said the fire was suspected arson and asked that anyone with information come forward. People can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or Gympie police on 5480 1111.
