FULL LIST: Rainbow finishes in Top 5 Queensland beaches
RAINBOW Beach again proves it is a great asset to the Gympie region, as it comes in at number five on a list of top 10 beaches rated by Surf Life Saving Queensland.
Every year SLSQ compiles a list of Queensland's top 10 patrolled beaches to coincide with the start of summer, to give beach-goers a great idea of where to head to have a fun, safe day in the surf.
Following Cylinder, Kings, Burleigh Heads and Mooloolaba, Rainbow Beach holds its place on the list thanks to good coastal conditions, safety signage and cleanliness.
SLSQ acting chief executive officer Craig Williams said there were a range of factors considered while compiling this list.
"No doubt many Queenslanders have their own favourite based on personal criteria,” he said.
"Determining our top 10 is always a tough job but one that we enjoy due to the sheer number of beautiful locations along our coastline.
"The start of summer is a timely reminder to always consider your safety and swim between the red and yellow flags, not matter which beach you choose to visit.”
The Sunshine Coast ranked well, with two of its beaches in the top five, with the Gold Coast being well represented with four on the list.
North Stradbroke Island's Cylinder Beach has been voted number one two years in a row.
