Get the right end of the stick with hockey sign on fun at Gympie

GYMPIE and District Hockey Association secretary Alycon Parke says sign-ons are open to everybody.

"We are always looking for new players,” she said.

"There'll be a free sausage sizzle and a chance for people to have a try.

"People don't have to be experienced. They can just come along and give it a go.”

The different divisions mean hockey will suit most age groups.

"The under-7s have the Hook into Hockey program. Then there are the U9s, U11s and U13s, which are all mixed classes.”

The other divisions are the youth boys and youth girls and 18-plus men's and women's senior divisions.

The sport is popular with children and some Gympie kids have represented Queensland and Australia in hockey in the past.

Sign ons will be on Friday February 17 from 5pm and Saturday February 18 from 10am to 2pm.
