Get your fill of local Slow Food

JUST use your nose and follow the delicious aromas wafting from the second floor of the WF Bishop Building (Fruit and Veg Pavilion) to find Gympie chef Darren Sandrini cooking some great “slow food” meals.

This year, cooking demonstrations focus on the fabulous food available on our doorstep. Local beef, red claw, limes and market garden produce, all sourced from the Gympie region, is used to illustrate the philosophy behind the concept of Slow Food.

The Slow Food movement connects people's enjoyment of the good food available in their region with a commitment to their local community and the environment. Demonstrations include “meat guru” butcher and good food promoter Darren Everard who talks to the audience about how to store and cook meat and the different cuts available.

Find the Slow Food cooking demonstrations on the second floor of the WF Bishop Building which is between the main pavilion and the grandstand.

Today and tomorrow demonstration times are 10am, noon and 3pm.
