Gold eyes off one day cricket final spot

STIRLING Homes Gympie Gold XI needs to defeat the Nambour Crushers today to secure a place in the one day grand final.

Making the assignment more difficult is the absence of captain Kaden Dickfos.

"We have got a good team there," Dickfos said.

"We just need a win to make the one-day final again."

Gympie has played in a one-day grand final twice in the last three years; winning and losing one to the Caboolture Snakes.

Should the Gold win today, they will play Maroochydore Blue for this year's title.

Dickfos is unavailable this weekend as he represents South Queensland in the Queensland premier-grade T20 competition in Brisbane.

He will play against four first grade Brisbane teams as well as the North Queensland representative team.

Replacing Dickfos on the pitch today is Trevor Brady. Jake Vidler will come in for Max Carlton who is also absent.

In the event Gympie defeats Nambour today, the one day final will not be held until well after Christmas in late January.
