Gold Fins: a fun and friendly club

IT'S that time of year again, with the Gympie Gold Fins Swimmers gearing up for the upcoming swimming season.

The season kicks off on October 14 and organisers are encouraging everyone to come and join the Gympie Gold Fins Swimming Club.

The club prides itself on providing children an opportunity to improve their aquatic fitness and technique.

It also offers a friendly atmosphere for non-competitive and competitive swimmers of all ages.

"We promote fitness and enjoyment to all our swimmers and encourage them to improve their technique and performance throughout the season in a positive, friendly manner," a spokeswoman for the group said.

Squads will train under the supervision of coach Liz Manthey at the Gympie Memorial Swimming Pool from Monday to Thursday starting with Juniors at 3.30 pm and Immediate and Seniors at 4.15 pm.

All members can come and participate on Friday club nights.

Gympie Gold Fins gives swimmers the choice of competing not only against themselves each week on club night but other clubs at carnival level throughout the Wide Bay Region.

"We offer a family friendly environment so come and discover your inner swimmer and stay fit and healthy.

"We also encourage parents and helpers to come and support the swimmers and participate in the running of the club on a volunteer basis," the spokeswoman said.

The club's sign on days are Tuesday, September 6 and Tuesday, October 4 from 4pm - 5.30 pm in the clubhouse at the Gympie Memorial Pool.
