Gympie banks on BOQ to help charity
GYMPIE has helped the Bank of Queensland hit an ambitious $1 million target for the Banking on our Kids appeal, which raises money for Children's Hospital Foundations Australia.
The team at BOQ Gympie raised $2397.25 for the appeal, helping the bank to a total of $274,000 for 2011 and a huge $1 million raised since the appeal was launched in 2004.
BOQ Gympie owner-manager Jellina White thanked the local community for throwing their support behind the campaign.
"I'd also like to thank our customers and passers-by who donated to the appeal and also to those who mocked us mercilessly for wearing our PJs to work on July 1 to launch the appeal," she said.
"While we always have a lot of fun getting behind the appeal, it's really special to know that all of our fundraising efforts are going to such a great cause.
"CHFA have told us that the funds raised this year will help fund important research programs to find cures for childhood illnesses, medical equipment that provide life-saving care and to support family and patient services to make a difference in the lives of children and their families across the country.
"Knowing that our team, with the support of the community, can make such a big difference makes wearing our PJs to work all the more worthwhile!
"And we are so proud to be part of the Gympie community who have shown again they are a compassionate and generous bunch."
