Gympie Guides clean up

TWENTY-eight Gympie Guides, leaders and parents turned up for the recent Clean Up Australia Day at Chatsworth Park.

Everyone donated their time on a Sunday morning to join in an event that started out as an idea in 1989 and is now a national community service event.

A Gympie Guides spokeswomans said: "We collected heaps of paper, cans, cigarette butts, plastic and random rubbish, all of which is now going to stay out of the waterways and away from our local wildlife.

"It was a fun and productive morning, and we had plenty of encouraging honks from passing vehicles on the Bruce Hwy."
