Gympie Netball's end of season nothing but net

THE END to the 2016 regular season of netball kicked off last week with the E Grade final between the Smarties and the Pink Panthers, with the nervy Panthers pulling through the jitters to take out the game 9-5.

It was a nail-biting finish to the very end of the D Grade game, where the Cooran Stars eked out a 25-24 win over Victory White.

There was an upset in the Junior C game, with Cooloola Christian College defeating minor premiership holders (and previously undefeated) Victory Flames 34-26.

In the Junior B, the Trailblazers quickly established themselves as the team to watch next year, digging deep for a 34-26 victory over the Flares.

The Junior A showdown between Victory Fire and the Diamonds was highly anticipated.

The game didn't disappoint, with an electric atmosphere throughout the match

With the scores locked at 40-all at full-time, the game moved into extra time, before a well-placed shot from Victory closed out the game.

The Senior C competition had Rusty narrowly beat out All Strapped Up 36-34, and a disciplined Roth steamrolled the Bruises 28-10 in the B Grade game.

The final score of the A-1 game didn't reflect the game itself, with 37-17 win by Mayhem against the Dynamites feeling like anyone's game.

Finally, Apparently's four-year winning streak was broken by a triumphant Insiders team, with a low scoring 21-10 game being a battle of wills and excellent defence from both sides.
