Gympie rugby league's rich history celebrated
GYMPIE rugby league boasts a very successful past, one that continues to be written today.
To celebrate and honour Gympie rugby league's rich history, the Gympie branch of Men of League is holding a reunion next Saturday, October 19.
The club is inviting all past and present Gympie rugby league players, partners and supporters to the reunion which will be full of rugby league nostalgia.
The day will honour the successful Gympie teams that won the 1969 Caltex 500 Wide Bay championships, the 1981, 1986, 1987 47th Battalion finals and the 2010 SCGRL grand final.
Gympie Men of League president Ross Groundwater said the day was open to anybody who has had anything to do with Gympie rugby league.
"It's a chance to reunite former players and members who perhaps haven't seen each other for decades," he said. "It's not only about the players, it's also about partners and supporters to catch up with old friends."
Held at the Gympie Civic Centre, the event starts at 10am and concludes at 4pm.
Groundwater urges people wanting to attend the day of nostalgia to RSVP this week because tickets will not be sold at the door.
