Gympie schools ready for Year 7

GYMPIE Year 7 students will have new and upgraded facilities waiting for them as they enter high school in 2015.

Member for Gympie, David Gibson said local high schools had been working closely with primary schools to help students and their parents to transition smoothly to high schools.

"I've spoken to the local schools and I know they are ready and excited to welcome students and new teachers into the school community next year," Mr Gibson said.

"The students will benefit from facilities that have been specifically designed to create an inspiring and engaging learning environment.

"It's the perfect environment for making new friends, learn new subjects and explore new skills to help shape life-long learning."

James Nash State High School Principal Darrin Edwards said the school was very excited to welcome Year 7 and Year 8 students into James Nash on the January 27 next year.

"We have been working and planning with parents and students for the past two-and-a-half years to provide a smooth transition into secondary school and now we can't wait to welcome all our new families in 2015."
