Healthy prognosis for Kilkivan locals
KILKIVAN'S visiting GP Dr George Springhall yesterday handed over the reins to Dr Sandra Zeeman after taking care of the people of the South Burnett township for the past 20 years.
Dr Springhall is a popular Gympie GP as well, but has visited Kilkivan every week since 1993.
When it became known Dr Springhall would have to withdraw his services the community came together to find its own solution to the problem, and has worked closely with Sunshine Coast Medicare Local to make it happen.
Dr Zeeman will now visit Kilkivan two days a fortnight, staying overnight in Kilkivan, and will be supported by a visiting physiotherapist every six weeks, as well as a podiatrist and a counsellor.
Kilkivan's four new health professionals visited the town yesterday to familiarise themselves with the Kilkivan Community Health centre.
Appointments will be bulk billed.
