1. GOLD PANNING EXPERIENCE

THINK you can strike it lucky? The Gympie Gold Mining Museum is giving you the chance to try your hand at panning for gold these holidays. Bookings are essential. Places still available for children aged between 12-17.

2. ROBOTICS WORKSHOPS

Multiple sessions starting April 4

THE robots are coming. Inspire a love of coding and robotics with your children these school holidays. As part of the funding received through the State Library of Queensland Robotics and Coding grant, kids can now access their favourite robotics and coding platforms like Ozobots, Lego Mindstorms, Little Bits, Scratch and more at their library. These school holidays we will on introducing a new platform to the mix - our new Sphero SPRK, device-driven and app-programmed spheres. Experiment and have fun with these devices. 5. TEXTURED CLAY WIND CHIMES (in two parts)

USE natural objects found in the landscape to push into the clay surface to create different textures. Come back in part two to construct a wind chime that will tinkle in the breeze. 6. STRAP YOUR SKATES ON

WANT to roll back into the iconic '80s fun but not sure whether you can stay on your feet? Gympie Skatezone will be hosting a free come-and-try session on April 5, with skate hire, sausage sizzle and games on offer. A DJ will also be on hand to crank up the jams. Bookings are essential and ensure you bring your own pair of socks - sharing is not advised. 7. WHAT KIND OF A STAR ARE YOU?

8. PLAN BEE

THE world needs bees. Learn to block print, add colour, do paper cuts and bee drawings, then make a simple stop animation using an Ipad and computer. Your animations and drawings will be on display during the exhibition 'Open. Cut. Mine.' from 27 April-20 May with artist Pamela See. 9. STAR WEAVE JAMS

JOIN the 'One Million Stars to End Violence Project' and make some paper stars. These stars will be added to an exhibition held at the Gympie Regional Gallery until 22 April. You can pick up your stars after the exhibition or we can send them to organisers of the 2018 commonwealth Games where they will be joined with all the stars to be displaying during the games. 10. GOLD PAINTING

13. MOVIES IN THE PARK

ODDBALL is the choice for what should be a fun family friendly night under the stars at Kandanga. Join man's mischievous best friend Oddball as he fights to protect a group of penguins from devious foxes in an attempt to reunite his family and save a seaside town. Bring a chair, picnic blanket or rug, or simply stretch out on the grass for this Australian film based on a true story. Entry is free, and snacks will be available for purchase on the night.

14. TIN CAN BAY JUNIOR FISHING DAY

GRAB a line, perch a hat on your head and don't flounder around these holidays with a free fishing event for children aged 7-15. Tuition, training and assistance will all be on offer for those casting a line, whether they have already landed their first catch or have even never picked up a fishing rod before. 17. EASTER ON MARY

MARY St will become a hive of entertainment and festivity once more as retailers and residents gather to celebrate in the lead-up to Easter. Rumour has it the Easter Bunny will be roving around, and an Easter bonnet competition will be judged at 6.30pm. Stores will also be open, and a range of food on offer.

18. PAINT MYSTERIOUS WATERY LANDSCAPES

19. LEARN TO SURF

LEARN to surf on one of Australia's most spectacular beaches at Double Island Point. Prior to hitting the water you will learn beach basics and safety, and practice your pop-up before catching some waves in the pristine waters guided by qualified instructors. This is open to children aged 12-17 and costs $20. Bring bathers, towel, hat, 50+ sunscreen, snacks, lunch and water. 21. MEET THE AUTHOR - GREGG DREISE

THE big news for this year is a visit from well-known Queensland children's author, Gregg Dreise. Gregg Dreise is the author and illustrator of Silly Birds, Kookoo Kookaburra and Mad Magpie. He loves visiting libraries with his didgeridoo and guitar and reading from his books. His book Silly Birds was on the 2015 Premier's Reading Challenge year 1 to 3 booklist and won the 2015 Speech Pathology Australia - Book of the Year award. Bookings to meet Gregg are essential.

22. EASTER TREES

GYMPIE Ten Pin Bowling will be booked out exclusively for this council run event. Come along and enjoy a game with your friends and see who can score the most strikes. All children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult/guardian during the session.
