Intersection eyesore gives Gympie visitors bad impression

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

I AM writing this letter to ask council if there is any plans to fix the atrocious sight at the intersection of BBQs Galore and the entrance to McDonalds and Aldi.
How has this corner been like this without anything happening?
I would think that the many neighbouring businesses would complain regularly.
It looks similar to a "bombed" environment in a country overseas.
There is rubbish on the left overflowing everywhere out of wheelie bins.
On the right is an old, old house with rusty pieces of metal or engines or something.
As I have gone past over the 20 years I have lived here I keep saying "council must do something about this shocking mess one day".
If a residence had a front yard like that the council would be right on to it.
Besides us having to pass it, it always it saddens me greatly that sometimes people travelling who are on the road and call in to McDonalds for a bite to eat, that this debacle is their only glimpse of Gympie.
What a shocking memory to take away with them.
I am embarrassed to think of the impression it must make.
We're better than this.
I always speak of the beautiful parks and sporting areas to be proud of in our beautiful city.
Maybe our newly elected councilmen can make a difference.
I would love a response to my letter.
Thanking you in anticipation
Christine Anderson,
Gympie.
