Karate exponents show their skills
MEMBERS of Gympie's Japan Karate-Do Ryobu-Kai Karate Academy showed their skill in the Shotokan Karate-Do Sunshine Coast Open event at Coolum on November 3.
Gympie Karate Club sensei Noel Turner said the tournament, run by sensei Michael Allen, was "great" with 20 members from the academy performing well.
Among the placegetters were Shane Harelle, who placed third in kata and second in kumite, Cameron Harelle who placed third in kata and Locklan Seed who placed third in kumite.
Dillayn Blackburn achieved an impressive first place in both kata and kumite as did Ben Nedwich and Jackie Means.
The top performances continued to delight for the Gympie club with Cooper Blackburn who finished first in kumite, Reuben Selby who placed third in kata and Sarah Compagnoni who finished third in kata and first in kumite.
