Katy Perry roars and flies high in Super Bowl halftime show
POP star Katy Perry has impressed with her dazzling Superbowl halftime show.
The mini-concert included four costume changes and appearances by special guests Lenny Kravitz and rapper Missy Elliott.
Perry opened the show by singing her ballad Roar standing on top of a large metallic lion operated by half a dozen puppeteers.
The centre of the field was then transformed into a giant chess board for her dance track Dark Horse before Kravitz emerged to help Perry sing a heavy rock version of her breakthrough hit I Kissed A Girl.
Perry then changed into a beach ball-inspired dress for her songs Teenage Dream and California Girls.
Projections turned the stage into a beach scene, where Perry danced with sharks, palm trees and bikini-clad backup dancers.
Her "surprise" special guest Elliott then emerged to sing a medley of her biggest hits including Get Your Freak On, Work It and Lose Control.
Perry briefly changed into a black and white 49-emblazoned hoodie dress for her duets with Elliot before changing one final time for her big show-closer Firework.
Her go-to designer Jeremy Scott created the costumes, which included her final sparkling floor-length star-covered gown.
Perry was hoisted above the field on a shooting-star platform as the stadium lit up with a full fireworks display.
The chart-topper did her homework ahead of America's most-watched sporting event.
Perry reportedly watched previous performances and rang last year's performer Bruno Mars for advice.
Her halftime show was widely praised on social media, but the more dramatic parts of her performance also spawned plenty of memes.
