Dad jailed for giving a boy 'cones' of pot

A "REMARKABLY foolish" decision to give a 15-year-old Gladstone boy three cones of cannabis and a bong landed Michael Kulikov, 34, before the Rockhampton Supreme Court.

Supreme court Justice Duncan McMeekin condemned the father-of- three's actions after the boy arrived at Kulikov's former Gladstone residence with his "own supply of drugs", before Kulikov shared his cannabis between February28 and May 1 last year.

The court heard the boy already "knew all about cannabis" and in a police interview following the incident, said: "I know what marijuana looks like, I'd done it before."

Justice McMeekin said while the child's age and the fact he was "accustomed to cannabis" were relevant factors, it did not excuse Kulikov's actions.

Defence solicitor Maree Willey said at the time of the offence, Kulikov's relationship with his partner - who was pregnant with his third child at the time - was breaking down, and he was "stressed and anxious" over their future, and being left with a rental home and debt.

Justice McMeekin sentenced Kulikov to four months imprisonment.
