Matt wanted to meet Harry one last time

BRISBANE Roar midfielder Matt McKay said it was disappointing his final clash against the man voted Australia's best ever footballer, Harry Kewell, took place in a pre-season trial game in Lismore.

Kewell announced his retirement on Wednesday.

A rib injury has ruled him out of the next two games, meaning he has just one professional match left - against the Wanderers at AAMI Park on April 12.

"We haven't played him all season, so it's disappointing for the fans," McKay (pictured) said, recalling some memories. "At the Asian Cup we had an 18-yard box game. I was with Timmy (Cahill), Harry and Luke Wilkshire, and we were winning every game 5-0, but I don't think I touched the ball."

McKay said there was no chance his team would drop its intensity over the next three games despite winning the Premier's Plate, starting with tonight's home game against the Heart.
