Mum slammed for leaving five year old at home with oven on
EVERYONE knows what a hassle it is to get the kids in and out of the car - especially when you're pregnant, but what option do you have?
Well, one mother, who is also 34-weeks pregnant, freely admitted on Reddit that she often leaves her five-year-old son at home alone - and has no problem with it.
"A five-year-old is perfectly capable of fending for himself for an hour," she said in her post, Kidspot reported.
To make matters worse - her fiance had no idea she did this - that was until she got busted, big time.
"Well, today I got caught," she confessed (which would indicate she knew full well she was doing something wrong).
And if you thought the story couldn't get any more shocking - she also deliberately left the oven on before ducking to the shops for food.
Needless to say - her fiance was far from happy when he got home to her son all on his own, asking if she was "crazy".
The livid woman shared the screenshots of the text conversation in utter disgust.
She argued her partner had "literally no argument", saying she left "the oven on because the chicken nuggets were cooking" and she figured they'd be ready by the time she got back.
"I am 34-weeks pregnant, I have a five-year-old son (and) my fiance works six days per week," she began.
"This makes it extremely hard for me to leave the house.
"It's a pain being pregnant and having to get my son ready and in the car, so I usually leave him home behind my fiance's back (no judgment please)."
Naturally, her pleas to not be judged were completely ignored by the parents on the forum.
"Given the gravity of the situation, I'd say he's pretty composed" one Reddit user said.
Another described her parenting decision as "insanity".
"She knowingly left her young five-year-old kid at home alone unsupervised with the oven on. That's insanity," they wrote.
"She has no right to say anything let alone have a tone with her husband who is justified in his response."
Another suggested that a couple of minutes is fine - but not any longer.
"I mean I might argue a kid can handle themselves for a bit, but a whole hour, with the oven running, no food ready, while she is out at a mall?" they asked.
"Five minutes in and my kid would have burned himself on that oven."
The woman was so incensed by her fiancés lecture, that she's now thinking about leaving him.
"My question is would you guys be mad if your significant other spoke to you this way? I feel degraded and belittled over nothing," she said.
"I'm honestly about to pack my bags and never let my son see his father again as well as when this baby is born."
The response to this query was just as sarcastic and bitchy as you might expect.
"It's the grim realisation that he fathered a child with a moronic drama queen setting in," one user wrote.
"My 5-year-old is so self-sufficient he actually got a 9-5 and moved out!"
Another added: "In our family, the youngest raises the children. I've been raising kids since I was a baby."
And here's our fave:
"And praying to all the gods in heaven that this child didn't get his IQ from his (the father's) wife."
