MY TOWN: Tells us the secrets of enchanting Eungella

The town's name means land of the clouds and it's easy to get swept up in its views and natural wonders - but there's more to Eungella than its physical beauty.

There's a charm to the township and an allure that draws people back, and has residents considering themselves lucky to call the area home.

The Daily Mercury's My Town series this week heads west to meet with locals about what makes Eungella great, but also tap into what is needed to keep it thriving.

Reporter Melanie Whiting will set up at the Eungella Chalet from 11am - 1pm Tuesday where she hopes to meet residents, recognise unsung community heroes, celebrate new businesses opening and explore issues that need addressing.

My Town, an initiative of the Daily Mercury and Mackay Regional Council, is about discovering more about our region, the people in the towns that foster deep pride for residents; the businesses that make them unique.

And wewant to hear from you.

Email Melanie on melanie.whiting@news.com.au or phone 4957 0303 to share your story.

And if you can't make it to Eungella Chalet on the day but still want to get in touch, drop Melanie an email.

The My Town initiative has a reporter visiting a different town or area twice a month, and since its relaunch after COVID lockdown, has visited Habana, Eimeo in the Northern Beaches and Eton, as well as Calen, Kuttabul, Marian, Finch Hatton, Bloomsbury and Sarina.

Eungella is the first location we will be visiting in 2021, with the next My Town taking reporter Heidi Petith to Seaforth on February 2.
