QRA and council funding a new bridge for Amamoor
WORK will begin soon on the $2.7 million replacement of Amamoor Creek Bridge.
Funded under the Queensland Reconstruction Authority and Gympie Regional Council, the wooden bridge, which has to carry a huge traffic volume increase at Muster time, has been severely damaged by subsequent flood events in the Mary Valley.
Temporary support work was carried out on it last year to make it safe for the large vehicles that needed to access the Muster site in August, but the entire bridge will now be replaced.
The council was flooded with tenders for the bridge project.
They ranged in price from the winning tender from Queensland Concrete and General Construction of $1.99 million up to $3.3 million.
Mayor Ron Dyne said it was a pleasure to know a new bridge would be completed soon.
