Discount scheme means new cuts for seniors

SENIORS and carers in Gympie are enjoying a lower cost of living, according to Member for Gympie David Gibson after the Seniors and Carers Business Discount scheme was introduced by the Newman Government.

Mr Gibson said the scheme gave Gympie residents who hold a Seniors Card, Seniors Business Discount Card or Carer Business Discount Card access to great savings on a wide range of products and services from a number of local business outlets.

"I promised to make things easier for Gympie families and the discount scheme delivers on this," Mr Gibson said.

"The 2013-14 discount directory offers seniors and carers discounts on everything from insurance, flowers, travel and accommodation, to clothing, home improvement services, restaurants and health services."

Communities Minister Tracy Davis said more than 7000 businesses had signed up to the Newman Government's 2013-14 business discount schemes across the state.
