No bull! Little Larry’s set for great things

FREE beauty sessions, fresh organic vegetarian delights, show appearances and countless girlfriends - Larry the Cable Guy is one lucky stud.

The Gympie angus bull calf may only be five months old but his star is on the rise after his mother scored a coveted ribbon at the Ekka this week.

Sure Larry might have lumbered along in her 800kg shadow in the beef arena, but owner Martin Nolan reckons it's just a matter of time until his little mate has what it takes to impress on his own.

"He's got a couple more shows behind his mum then he'll start his own show career," Mr Nolan says as he blows straw off the giant baby's thick black coat.

"Then he'll go to a big sale in Toowoomba in a couple of years and eventually go out to stud."

The Gympie security guard runs two angus operations under Myown Angus.

He keeps his small show herd on 5ha in Gympie and has breeding stock grazing on 110ha at Murgon.

He says he has always had an affinity with angus cattle.

"I like the performance of the angus, I like the meat quality and the temperament and straight-out attitude of the angus," Mr Nolan says.

"They do everything I want them to do - show-wise and performance-wise."
