No problem in Houston for Jones after win

AUSSIE golfer Matt Jones (pictured) may never hit two better shots than the two birdies that earned him the last available spot in this week's US Masters at Augusta.

The 33-year-old father of two lived every golfer's dream, breaking through for his first PGA Tour win and a $A1.2 million pay day following a spectacular playoff victory in the Houston Open.

To follow up his 15m birdie putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff, Jones chipped in over a bunker on the first extra hole to beat world No.11 Matt Kuchar.

"I actually told my caddie walking up to the ball at the 18th hole the second time I would chip it in," beamed the Sydney-born golfer who lifts Australia's contingent of players lining up in the Masters (starting on Friday) to seven.

It was the fourth victory on the US Tour by an Aussie in the last eight weeks, following Queenslanders Jason Day, John Senden and Steven Bowditch.
