Otter you up to? Oh, just chowing down on an alligator
SO YOU think otters are nice, cuddly, furry little critters?
Tell that to an alligator that was attacked, killed and eaten by one of them.
In a bad couple of weeks for the reputation of alligators and crocodiles, a croc being eaten by a snake made world headlines, which may have prompted Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge to re-release these images on its Facebook page.
Officials at the park, in central Florida, spotted the otter as it bit into the hide of the small alligator in a marsh.
It overpowered its prey before dragging it onto a bank.
A post from the US Fish & Wildlife Service said the animals were not visible on the bank, but "crunching noises" indicated the otter was eating the alligator.
Otters are apex predators in many freshwater habitats, the post said.
