Parkinson’s group has all the moves for health
SLIPPING on the dance shoes can do a lot of good for health and wellbeing.
Just ask Gympie Parkinson's Support Group, which is hosting seated dance classes twice monthly at the Apex Hall, Red Hill Rd, every first and third Wednesday of the month.
The next dance class is today and participants can expect to benefit by improving balance, flexibility, co-ordination, gait, confidence, cognitive function, social inclusion, depression and general quality of life.
Research shows dance offers a number of non-pharmacological benefits for people with motor and mobility issues caused by neurodegenerative disorders and ageing.
Classes run from 10.15-11.30am and cost $10.
Carers of participants are welcome and encouraged to attend at no additional cost.
