UPDATE: Caloundra have secured back-to-back premierships after defeating USC barbarians in the A-grade grand final.
In a tough and physical battle, the Lighthouses toppled the Barbarians 30-15 in front of a boisterous crowd at Sunshine Beach on Saturday.
Minor premiers University were the first to notch up points in the decider, booting a penalty kick early in the game to go up 3-0.
But Caloundra were quick to snare one of their own shortly after to level scores 3-3.
The Lighthouses stamped their mark from there, with a nice attacking play paying off with the first try of the game.
That was converted to push Caloundra up 10-3.
Barbarians kicked the ball out on the restart, with Caloundra taking advantage of the subsequent attacking charges to cross again and convert to be up 17-3.
The sides traded plenty of blows for the rest of the half and, while Barbarians managed to claw back some ground with a try, simple errors had them trailing 20-10 at the break.
They got a glimmer of hope with an early try in the second stanza after capitalising on a short Caloundra outfit due to the sin binning of Samisoni Vereniki.
But, it was the last points they'd score, with Caloundra remaining a dominant force with possession despite the sin binning of another player, David Jackman, midway through the half.
Barbarians lost Trent Anderson to red card late in the game with a try and penalty kick in the dying stages propelling Lighthouses to the 30-15 triumph.
RUGBY UNION: USC Barbarians and Caloundra Lighthouses will face-off in the Sunshine Coast A-grade grand final at Sunshine Beach on Saturday.
Minor premiers Barbarians will head into the match not only looking to cap a dominant year on a high but with a fallen teammate in their thoughts.
They'll hit the field driven to succeed in honour of the late Jacob Mabb.
The 21-year-old died in December last year after sustaining critical injuries in a motorcycle crash during a trip to Bali.
Meanwhile, Lighthouses head into the match determined to defend their maiden championship after enduring a year with a target on their back.
Caloundra secured a direct berth into the decider after toppling Barbarians in the major semi final.
University toppled Noosa in the prelimanry final to earn their place in the grand final.
