Six teams confirmed for women's AFL carnival

HINTERLAND Blues' inclusion will make AFL Wide Bay's women's one-day lightning carnival one of the biggest in the region.

The Lightning Carnival is a one-day, round robin-style affair set to be held at Maryborough's Port City Park on Saturday.

Five teams set to compete in AFL Wide Bay's inaugural women's season - Bay Power, Brothers Bulldogs, Hervey Bay Bombers, Maryborough Bears and The Waves - are due to play, but the Blues' inclusion makes it the biggest Aussie rules competition held in Wide Bay.

All teams will play three games between 1.30pm and 6.30pm.

The Bears face Bay Power in the first game.

The first round of the regular season will start on February 10.
