Sheedy and Ferguson chat about life at the top
KEVIN Sheedy and Sir Alex Ferguson have plenty in common.
Between them they have coached more than 50 years at the top level in their respective countries, almost all with the one club - Ferguson at Manchester United and Sheedy with Essendon before switching to GWS.
The pair met earlier this week at Old Trafford as part of a fact-finding mission Sheedy and Giants CEO David Matthews undertook to the world's most famous sporting club.
They also attended the Manchester derby between United and arch-rivals Man City, keen to learn more about building rivalries with a view to creating something similar with cross-town rivals the Sydney Swans.
"We looked at a number of aspects of Manchester United's operations from football to its commercial operations to fan development and its stadium operations," Sheedy said.
They also chatted about horse racing, and Sheedy may have had the bragging rights on that topic. While Fergie owns several racehorses, including top jumper Harry The Viking, Sheedy is a part-owner of Bel Esprit, the sire of Black Caviar.
