Christmas Lights competition to brighten up Gympie

GYMPIE is about to be hit by the spirit of Christmas once again, with all the fun, beauty and magic of the 2012 Sunshine Mitre 10 Christmas Lights competition starting on Tuesday.

The Best-Decorated Home this year will win a $500 Sunshine Mitre 10 voucher, the Best-Decorated Home (New Entrant) will win a $300 voucher, and the People's Choice winner will take home a $200 voucher.

Anyone who loves decorating their home with Christmas lights, but does not want to enter the competition, can still have their address published in The Gympie Times Christmas Lights Map on Friday, December 7.

Nomination forms for the competition will be run in The Gympie Times from Tuesday, November 13, and entries must be in by 10am, Tuesday, December 4.

To enter, fill out the nomination form and either drop it into The Gympie Times office in Mary St, or to Sunshine Mitre 10 at Langton Rd.

You will need to nominate which category you want to enter.

The People's Choice competition will be run as a separate competition for readers to vote which home they think has the best display.

Readers who vote will then go into the draw to win a $100 Sunshine Mitre 10 voucher. Voting forms will run in The Gympie Times from December 7-14, with no votes accepted after 10am, Monday, December 17.

Voters can either drop their votes to The Gympie Times office in Mary St or Sunshine Mitre 10 at Langton Rd.

Judging of the Christmas Lights competition will take place between Friday, December 7, and Saturday, December 15. The displays will be judged by an independent panel based on theme, light display and Christmas appeal.

Winners will be announced in The Gympie Times on Wednesday, December 19.
