Silverware on the line in Goodchild Shield final
CRICKET: Gympie will aim for Goodchild Shield bragging rights when they take on South Burnett at Kingaroy in the final tomorrow.
Gympie have named a strong side ahead of the clash and Gympie captain Peter Kross is confident his players will be up to the task.
"We will go well," he said.
"South Burnett will be stronger this game as they may have been missing some players when we played them through the season."
The one-day clash will play into the favour of both sides who traditionally field strong attacking batting line ups.
Brendan Mahaffey is the only exclusion from the Gympie side, due to unavailability.
He will be replaced by Kaden Dickfos, who will back up from Saturday's Gold XI match against Maroochydore Red and provide Kross with potent run scoring and wicket taking potential.
However, Gympie will need to consolidate time at the crease if they are to overcome South Burnett on their home wicket.
"Not playing silly shots, batsmen getting in and spending time at the crease and bowling in our areas will be the key," Kross said.
