Socceroos boss confirms exit date
SOCCEROOS boss Ange Postecoglou has confirmed when he will finish up as national team manager.
Speaking at a dinner event on Wednesday night at the AFI Institute, Postecoglou stated he will be stepping down after the 2018 World Cup in order to pursue coaching options in Europe.
Les Murray hosted the event and confirmed Postecoglou's bombshell on Thursday morning.
"Enjoyed interviewing Ange Postecoglou at the AFI dinner last night where he confirmed that after the 2018 World Cup he's stepping down," Murray tweeted.
Postecoglou signed a five-year contract as national team manager in 2013, taking him through until the end of the 2018 World Cup cycle.
He now has a busy final 14 months in charge, with qualification for Russia not yet confirmed, while there is an upcoming blockbuster friendly with Brazil before the 2017 Confederations Cup in June.
