Sunshine Motorway gridlock: Four-car crash causes carnage

TRAFFIC is banking up on the Sunshine Motorway after a four-car nose-to-tail crash has blocked off one lane.

The crash happened about 12.15pm on the Sunshine Motorway-Maroochydore Road off ramp northbound, just past the fire station.

One driver is being assessed by paramedics but their injuries weren't believed to be serious, according to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman.

Police have arrived on scene and are conducting traffic control as the crash started to impact travellers.

One firefighting crew was tasked but no cutting gear was needed as there were no entrapments.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area at the moment as traffic builds while the scene was being cleared.
