Take the ‘Grape Escape’ to wine country this weekend

TASTE some of the best flavours on offer in the South Burnett at Queensland's newest wine and food festival.

The 'Grape Escape' will kick off in the South Burnett's 'winery hub' in Moffatdale from Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27.

Take the chance to taste wines from the different wineries across the region.

The main event on Saturday will showcase an array of distinct wines and produce from the South Burnett.

South Burnett Wine Industry President Jason Kinsella said the event aimed to highlight the region as a must-do wine tourism destination.

"We had award-winning wines and first class produce so it's only natural to combine the two with a wine and food event," he said.

Mr Kinsella said tourism in the South Burnett wine region was definitely on the increase.

"We need to recognise the need for a combined festival to show locals and visitors what our region can offer," he said.

There will be four Moffatdale cellar doors and two other South Burnett wineries combining to create the food and wine trail.

Most venues will offer a $10 tasting plate on Saturday, serving small meals allowing people to sample some of the region's finest food.

This will be matched with a glass of wine, from $6.

No festival is complete without live music.

Foodies will be entertained by Sunshine Coast duo The Dennis Sisters and South Burnett entertainers Guy Davis and Misfitz on Saturday.

A free shuttle bus will operate on a continuous loop between participating venues enabling festival-goers to taste a variety of food and wine offerings.

The hop-on, hop-off bus will operate from 10am to 4pm on Saturday.

Passengers can make their way to one of the participating venues, then pick up the bus to travel the rest of the route and stop at the region's best wineries.

Participating wineries will continue the festivities into Sunday, encouraging visitors and residents to make a weekend of it.

This will include relaxed wine tastings at the cellar doors, local produce and more live music and activities.

Grape Escape participating venues include:

Barambah Bush Caravan Park (hosting Vinter's Secret Wines)

Barambah Cellars

Clovely Estate Wines

Hidden Gold (hosting Crane Wines)

Moffatdale Ridge Wine

Kingsley Grove at its Kingaroy cellar door (self-drive, no shuttle bus)
