Traffic queues after concrete truck hits rail bridge
TRAIN services have returned to normal this afternoon after tracks were damaged when a truck crashed into an overhead rail bridge at Palmwoods.
Palmwoods police officer Senior Constable Scott Hughey said after-school traffic was delayed while the damage was investigated.
He said a concrete truck driver had clipped a metal height warning bar before hitting a few pillars on the bridge about 12.30pm.
The impact knocked the railway tracks out of alignment, which caused services between Palmwoods and Woombye to be delayed.
Rail commuters were taken by bus between Palmwoods, Woombye and Nambour until damage was repaired about 2.30pm.
Snr Const Hughey said the scene was cleared about 3.30pm and traffic flow had since returned to normal.
