Calls for dashcam footage after double fatality

UPDATE: Police have issued an appeal for information from the public after a horrific fatality at Ficks Crossing on the Bunya Highway, between Wondai and Murgon, this afternoon. 

The driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old Wondai man, and the passenger of the car, a 76-year-old Wondai woman, died at the scene while receiving treatment from emergency services personnel.

Police have called for anyone with dashcam footage of a white Toyota Aurion sedan travelling along the Bunya Highway, bearing Queensland registration of 084 WNM, to contact them. 

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the accident.

3.30PM: The Bunya Highway has just been reopened as of 3.22pm.

Vehicles can now travel directly between Wondai and Murgon without any interruption.

EARLIER: Wondai Police Sergeant Brad Fewtell confirmed at noon today there was a single-vehicle crash along the Bunya Highway near Murgon.

As a result the two occupants, a male and female, have been pronounced deceased at the scene.

He said traffic diversions were in place as the highway was blocked off in both directions.

The road is expected to be shut for several hours.

A forensic crash unit will be investigating the scene further.
